Spring 2016

Fall 2015

  • For Monday, November 16th: Adorno and Horkheimer, Notes and Sketches from Dialectic of Enlightenment

 ***

Spring 2015

  • For Wednesday, April 8th, read whatever chapter(s) you want from Kathi Weeks’ The Problem With Work. Note that we’re saving our discussion of the epilogue for our final meeting.

Fall 2014:

***

  • For Wednesday, February 19th, Marcuse’s The Aesthetic Dimension. Please focus principally on chapters 1, 2, 5, and the conclusion. * Note that we are meeting on an unusual date, and at a new location: Henry’s on Durant at Bowditch.
  • For our first meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd, three of Adorno’s lectures on Natural History: lectures 13-15 from the History and Freedom series.

***

In the 2012-2013 academic year, we read together the first ten lectures in Adorno’s History and Freedom. If you were unable to join us but would like to read what we read from that text, download these pdfs: Adorno – History & Freedom lectures – 1-4 and Adorno History & Freedom – 5-10.
