reminder: meeting today in WH 306

19 Nov

Hello friends!

We look forward to seeing many of you this evening at 5pm in Wheeler Hall 306 (note that this will be the first time this year we Frankfurt in this room), for a conversation about the beginning of Cruising Utopia. Please bring a version of the text with you, or let us know if you’d like us to provide a paper copy.

next meeting: Weds, Nov 19th

9 Nov

The Frankfurt School Working Group is taking the week off from meetings, because we organizers – and possibly you, too – are interested in attending the neoliberalism and biopolitics working group meeting this coming Wednesday, at which Berkeley faculty Wendy Brown, Michael Burawoy, Colleen Lye, and Richard Walker will talk about Marxist theory in the context of neoliberalism. Our group’s next meeting will be a week from this Wednesday, on November 19th, at 5pm in Wheeler Hall 306.

For the 11/19 meeting, please read the introduction and first chapter of Munoz’s Cruising Utopia, which gives a queer spin to (Frankfurt-influenced) utopianism, and a Frankfurt-influenced utopian spin to queer theory.

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
